Membership Drive
Membership Drive
Dear Friend:

This is not your ordinary membership drive, call-to-action letter. While we do want you to take the step and become a member of The Resource Center, this appeal is special. It is special because it comes from the largest not-for-Profit service organization in all of Western New York. It is a call from an organization celebrating its 50th anniversary. It is a call to help us provide assistance, services, and, most importantly, opportunity to thousands of individuals with disabling conditions throughout Chautauqua County.

Business First recently recognized The Resource Center as number one in Western New York when ranking not-for-profit organizations. With a budget of $90 million, TRC makes a positive difference in the lives of Chautauqua County residents. It remains the mission of The Resource Center to keep those services, and those dollars, right here in Chautauqua County. With your membership, we can do more.

Started in 1958 by a group of concerned and dedicated parents, The Resource Center has grown from an organization serving fewer than a dozen individuals with mental retardation into a professional, multifaceted agency that serves people with all types of disabling conditions. TRC provides employment opportunities, day programs and residential services to persons with disabilities; offers quality primary care, health-related services and mental health counseling to the entire community; and advocates on behalf of persons with disabilities and their families. With your membership, we can do more.

I am proud to chair this year’s Membership Drive. My association with The Resource Center began in 1965 and continues through today. The positive effects The Resource Center have had on my family and I are profound. My brother, Michael – a proud, 35-year-old with Down syndrome – is a large part of this. With the help of TRC’s Supported Employment Program, Michael works three days a week at Cliffstar, Inc. The sense of purpose and accomplishment his job offers Michael is significant. The valued service he offers his employer makes the benefit mutual, as he attacks his tasks with enthusiasm. With your membership. we can do more.

You do not need to have a family member with a disability to be a member of The Resources Center. Through your membership, you can be a part of providing services, supporting employment and doing something positive for your community. We also hope you participate, volunteer or enjoy our special events throughout the year, such as the Gus Macker Basketball Tourney, Laurel Run, or the Carl Cappa Memorial Classic. Be a part of making us stronger, a part of keeping every dollar raised in Chautauqua County, a part of the number one not-for-profit in Western New York. The Resource Center is proud of what it has accomplished over the last 50 years. With your membership, we can do more.
